Typo London 2011 Places - JOKER WILD CARD
Last week one of the biggest design talks - Typo London 2011 Places was storming the capital of England. With the most impressive speakers list - it was a total temptation that was difficult to resist. Unfortunately, due to last minute change of plans, I’ve managed to see only 1 speaker - Morag Myerscough, who was as always - brilliant!

Imaginary Menagerie @ Text Gallery
Last evening, small Text gallery based in WC1 was completely packed with people who came to the opening of Imaginary Menageries exhibition, where 19 designers from all around the world were exhibiting their tongue-twisting interpretations. It was very sweet to to watch and listen to people trying to read the tongue twisters in perfection, not just in English, but in Russian, Spanish and other languages as well.
Yesterday I was there to support Morag Myerscough (neon installation / Where She Shines) and Cartlidge Levene ( lamp shades/ Five Palindromes* [*Palindromes are phrases of words which read the same backwards as they do forwards.). I really really liked Ryan Dixon's (poster / Pistols Packing Punks) piece, unfortunately it was exhibited so close to the bar (which was overcrowded) that I didn't manage to photograph it. The exhibition is open until 19th November 2011. For more info please click here.

Wim Crouwel - A Graphic Odyssey @ London Design Museum
Wim Crouwel is called one of the leading graphic designers of the twentieth century, and I think, this name is given to him for a reason.
Last night I had a great opportunity to attend the opening of this graphic odyssey, that was spread over a second floor of the Design Museum. The work on display was so good, that sometimes it was difficult to believe that it was completed 40-50 years ago, as it was the same edgy, the same modern as our-day print. Here are few snaps from the evening.

Nokia Pure.
Last night we (the studio) went to the launch of Nokia Pure typeface at Tramshed, Rivington Street, where Morag Myerscough alongside other great designers, such as Alex Trouchet, Bond, Build, Cartlidge Levene, DesignStudio, HelloVon, Nokia Design, Non-Format, North, Practise, Value & Service & Z.A.K were exhibiting her installation of 20 PURE stools.
The night was soooo good (won’t mention free Finlandia’s cocktail bar), that on the next day we didn’t have to find an excuse to go home earlier.

Obsessed with Photo booth @ KIN
Matt and Kevin are always full of great ideas. This free photo booth was one of them. Oh dear… I really wish Sara Abu-Hejleh wasn’t in St.Francisco and was there that we could repeat great moments we had in Berlin. There are few shots (out of a pile) with me and me & Avril.

Happy Birthday KIN!
On 12 November Kin Design was celebrating studio’s second birthday party. I popped in there to congratulate Matt and Kevin (I’ve met them, when we were doing a joint project, while I was still studding at Goldsmiths), and to say hello to my course friends: Avril, Clair and Max who work there. hahahaha funny enough, I’ve managed to park my bike in ’somebody’s’ private yard, and when it was time to head home, I found the gates – locked :))))))) and I walked all way home, while Mindaugas was slowly cycling alongside of me :)))) What a silly cow…
PS. On Saturday – I was re-united with my Madame Pakamuka and doing circles around the city.
Happy End

Drawing Fashion | Design Museum
Yesterday I went to the private view of Drawing Fashion exhibition at London Design Museum, where Chanel, Dior, Comme des Garçons and Poiret as well as Viktor & Rolf, Lacroix and McQueen were exhibiting pieces from their collections. Nicely designed sinuous walk was taking us around the exhibition , where fashion illustrations hanged on the walls were taking us to the journey of drawing. It was very nice to follow the history and compare how the drawing has changed through out the century and how fragile and neat become strong, dramatic and modern.

Anish Kapoor – Turning The World Upside Down – Hyde Park
This mid-autumn morning has met us with warm weather and a lot of sunshine. An amazing day to spend outdoors, especially to cycle in Hyde Park. We stopped by Anish Kapoor’s installation and had few pictures done there. This installations has brought me back to my childhood, to times when almost every Sunday my parents were taking me and my sister to children theme park in Klaipeda. One of the attractions there – was a mirror room full of different mirrors which were distorting our images. Today I was playing again, like I used to do it when I was little.

Message to Tate Modern
Thank you for spoiling my weekend and closing that amazing installation in Turbine’s Gallery before I’ve managed to get there. There is no point to go and see it from the bridge. It is the same as to lick honey through the jar.

Thank you.

Twin Brother!
After seeing so many stuffed birds at 80-artists-100-hours exhibition and inspired by them, coming back to studio in 3 minutes time I have retraced Marcus Mitchell’s piece that was selling for £400.

80 + ARTISTS 100 + HOURS
This Friday I went to Kerry Ryan’s curated 80 + ARTISTS 100 + HOURS exhibition where 80 artists/designers were exhibiting 95 pieces. Among them were two very good friends – Morag Myerscough with her scribble neon saying Cunts and Luke Morgan with his typographic skull – Not Collin. Of course they were the best! But alongside of them I really liked: Tracey Emin’s – I woke up wanting to kiss you neon, Polly Morgan’s – Receiver, Marcus Mitchell’s – Dead Tit, Douglas Gordon’sneon saying – I’m a designer of my own catastrophy, Franko B – Boy, Dean Whatmuff’s – Ace of Spades.
Ohh… and that burlesque dancer… I liked her as well!

Design Museum Ball
No mask + make mask = wear it!
There was a lot of action taking place in London’s Design Museum. From mask making workshops, dance lessons, catwalks and so on… One of the most exciting parts for me was an artistic Gilbert McCarragher’s photoshoot on John Pawson’s bench. mmmm nice!
